Jujitsu-The Gentle Art
Jujitsu also spelled as Jujutsu means the Gentle Art,the way of softness,the art of yielding,the way of flexability. This art of hand to hand combat was developed upon the ancient battlefields of Nippon(Japan).Techniques were used by the old Bushi and Samurai to defend oneself in battle. These techniques are Atemi Waza,striking techniques,Kansetsu Waza,joint locking techniques,Shime Waza,strangling techniques,and Ne Waza,grappling techniques.Jujitsu was only one art of War that the feudal warriors of Japan used in combat.
Atemi Waza-Striking Techniques
Striking techniques of Atemi waza include the fist and hand strikes of tate zuki,vertical punch, uraken,back fist, tettsui,hammer fist, teishu,palm, shuto,knifehand, haito,ridgehand, tegatana,sword hand, yonpon ken,four knuckle fist, ippon ken,one knuckle fist, and tsume,claw hand.
